Year-round Atlantic swell across five regions, from Taghazout's point breaks to Essaouira's wind-and-wave coast. Waverick's biggest country catalogue with real prices, verified camps and instant booking.
Compare campsThe Moroccan Atlantic is where Europe's surfers go in winter when their home breaks shut down. From October to April, consistent NW swells fire down a coastline that stretches from Rabat in the north past Essaouira, Imsouane, Taghazout and Tamraght, all the way to Dakhla on the edge of the Sahara. Water stays warm enough for a 3/2 mm most of the year. Lineups outside peak weeks stay light.
Each region has its own character. Taghazout is the surf capital: point breaks, daily surf culture, the most camps. Tamraght is its quieter neighbour. Imsouane has one of Africa's longest right-hand waves. Essaouira and Sidi Kaouki mix beach breaks with one of Morocco's best kitesurf zones. Rabat is the under-the-radar option for surfers who prefer city to surf town. Five regions, one country, one trip.
Eight named breaks, four regions. Pick the wave, the camp follows.
Africa's most famous right-hander. Holds 200-metre rides on a clean NW. Works October to April. Worth the early alarm.
One kilometre north of Anchor. Bigger, faster, heavier, reef bottom. Earned its name.
Long, mellow right with a forgiving wall. The intermediate's playground when Anchor is too big.
Next to Banana Point, picks up bigger swells. Rocky entry. Worth the early alarm when it's on.
Africa's longest right, 800 metres on a clean day. Forgiving paddle-out. Gets crowded by 11am.
The Bay's heavier neighbour. Faster, hollower, holds bigger swells when The Bay closes out.
Sand-bottom beach for learners. Trade winds turn it into a kitesurf zone in the afternoon.
Wide beach with shifting sandbars, 30 minutes from the airport. Surfable on most swells.
Three quick filters. Click through to camps that match.
Pick a region based on what matters most: wave quality, vibe, or what you do when the swell drops.

A long-established Taghazout camp with a strong yoga programme and a calm, healthy vibe. The breakfast spread alone is worth the booking. Great for solo travellers and couples who want surf without the hostel atmosphere.

For wave quality and consistency, Taghazout's Anchor Point on a clean NW swell is the country's most famous wave. Imsouane has Africa's longest right-hand. For beginners, Sidi Kaouki and Imsouane's Bay are the most forgiving. Read the breakdown by region.
October to April for the bigger swells: that's when point breaks like Anchor Point fire. Shoulder months (October-November and March-April) are the sweet spot: solid surf without the holiday crowds. May to September is smaller surf but warmer water, ideal for beginners.
No. Camps run beginner programmes year-round. Sidi Kaouki, Imsouane's Bay and the beach breaks at Taghazout are forgiving. Most camps offer beginner-to-intermediate coaching with small groups and progressive lesson structure. If you're advanced and want to surf points without lessons, look for Surf Guiding or Free Surf packages.
Three airports cover most of the country: Agadir (AGA) for Taghazout/Tamraght/Imsouane, Marrakech (RAK) for inland transfers, and Essaouira-Mogador (ESU) for Sidi Kaouki. Most camps include or arrange airport pickups. Direct flights from London, Paris, Brussels, Madrid, and several Italian cities to Agadir or Essaouira.
Essaouira is Morocco's wind sports hub: April to October trade winds, dedicated kite zone on the city beach, certified schools (Ocean Vagabond, IKO/VDWS). Le Hameau des Cascades 35 km south offers wingfoil coaching. Dakhla is a flat-water lagoon for kitesurfing: coming to Waverick soon. Read the Essaouira kitesurf guide.
3/2 mm wetsuit (winter: 4/3 mm), board if you have one (most camps include rentals), sunscreen, a warm layer for evenings (deserts get cold at night), and modest clothing for medina visits. Cash in dirhams for taxis, tagines and tea: cards work in cities but not in the small villages.
Yes: Morocco is the multi-activity surf country. Camps offer yoga, hammam, cooking classes, camel rides, quad biking, day trips to Marrakech, hiking, and wind sports. Sidi Kaouki camps are especially set up for combo trips. The Hameau des Cascades adds hiking to nearby waterfalls.
